After seeing years of growth, Punjab’s economic well-being has experienced a downfall. The state’s average per capita income is ranked at 16 today, in contrast to 2010 and 1996, when it was ninth and third-highest, respectively. As Subhashish Bhadra highlights in his book, Punjab desperately needs a model of ‘minimum government, maximum governance’. Read as we identify what the possible constituents of this model can be.
